Everyone has a story.  Despite hardship, Ginger’s story is a heart-warming personal and professional journey that intertwined and led her to a destination to make a positive difference in the lives of others.  Ginger began her exemplary nursing career in 1994.  Her nursing practice consisted of providing care to medically complex patients and families in the Intensive Care Unit hospital setting.  She cared for a variety of extremely ill patients, with a deep focus in the cardiac, pulmonary, and surgical specialties. As Ginger advanced her career path, she was successful in leadership roles within the acute care, long term care, and home health care settings.  She pioneered a notable telemedicine program which resulted in improved patient outcomes for those with multiple chronic diseases.  She also achieved vast experience in care management & life care planning.  Through the years, with her compassion and valuable experience, knowledge, and leadership via nursing, she obtained keen insight of the healthcare system.  This insight significantly contributed to Ginger’s desire to create purposeful solutions to serve others.

Growing up, Ginger and her family cared for her beloved aunt who had a severe form of cerebral palsy.  This debilitating disease significantly limited her aunt’s mental and physical status.  Despite the limitations caused by cerebral palsy, Ginger and her family were consistently devoted to optimizing her aunt’s health care, and most importantly, her quality of life.  As a young caregiver, Ginger gained firsthand experience of the challenges placed on families and patients with chronic debilitating disease states.  Years later, Ginger again found herself in the caregiver role personally and professionally – as she was a nurse.  Her mother and daughter were in a tragic car accident.  Sadly, the accident took her mother’s life, while her 12-year-old daughter suffered a severe traumatic brain injury & life-threatening abdominal damage.  In addition, she provided care to her 14 year old step son who became a quadriplegic as the result of a spinal cord injury.  She also spent many months with several trips to Cleveland Clinic to address her other daughter’s diagnosis of Chronic Regional Pain Syndrome.  As a mother and a health care consumer, Ginger experienced the physical, emotional, and spiritual hardships that patients, families, and caregivers face during these difficult situations.  As a nurse, she knew that more could be done to help patients & their families during the most stressful time of their life.  Being on both sides of the coin Ginger’s career & life path was guided by her deep will to create meaningful solutions that would provide a high level of support for patients and caregivers as they dealt with the unknown, as well as, the stress of the complex & confusing health care system.  It would ensure that patients and families had access to a licensed, trusted, experienced, and knowledgeable health care advocate to oversee all components of a client’s care and quality of life.  This health care “quarterback” would ensure client care was seamless, safe, efficient, and of the highest quality.  This approach would “run deep” and would not “cut corners” and it would include the client’s wishes and goals regarding their quality of life.  Most importantly, it would offer clients & caregivers a sense of relief, hope, and empowerment.  In 2011, Ginger co-founded Diversified Nurse Consultants, and initiated a solution that we call comprehensive care management.  We are humbled and grateful to have served thousands of clients and caregivers in multiple geographic locations thus far.  It is an honor to lift others when they need it most.
