Home Safety Evaluation

Although Home Safety Evaluations are included in our assessment, we also offer this as an individual service to meet your safety needs.  We highly encourage keeping home safety a top priority.  Aging adults, adults with chronic diseases, and those with disabilities can significantly reduce home safety issues by identifying & proactively eliminating potential hazards.

According to the Center for Disease Control, the number one cause of injury and death for older adults is falling.  With more than 10,000 older Americans turning 65 each day, the number of fall-related injuries and deaths is expected to surge.  We are committed to making safety a routine part of health care & quality of life by assisting others in taking the appropriate steps to protect themselves.

Everyone’s assessment needs are unique; while some individuals want just the home assessment & recommendations, others request that we also assess the client’s health status and ability concerning their functionality & safety in the home.

A Home Safety Assessment is a comprehensive evaluation. It is designed to enable seniors to live independently and enjoy their accustomed quality of life without the danger of hospitalization. As part of our initial assessment, we evaluate the home environment, looking for potential threats to a senior’s well-being.

Regardless of your situation, we have you covered and can perform the type of assessment & provide the appropriate recommendations that you or your loved one needs.

We provide a set of recommendations to improve home safety. Below are listed some of the most important areas to consider.

  • Grab Bars

  • Toilet Risers

  • Throw Rugs

  • Clutter

  • Rubber Shower Mats

  • Proper Lighting

Preventing Common Accidents

These recommendations focus on increasing visibility and clearing floorspace because falling is one of the most significant threats to your loved one. Not only are falls the most common cause of injury, but they can also lead to long-term limitations, such as bone fractures.

The second most common cause of accidents is fire. Because of restricted mobility and decreased tolerance for smoke inhalation and burns, your loved one’s living space needs to be clear of fire hazards and equipped with working fire-protection devices.
